More efficiency with more cargo
The basic principle of Green city logistics is a simple one. Big trucks drive into the sorting terminals, which are located by the city’s ring roads. There the load is divided into smaller transport vehicles, which will deliver the load to its assigned destination. Part of the transport vehicles drive to the city area’s delivery centers, city hubs. There the load is sorted into smaller, electricity-powered or natural gas-powered delivery vans that drive into the city center. Each van is responsible for one block and collects the recyclable material when possible.

Activities involved in Green city logistics:
- Sorting terminals
- City hubs
- Terminal functions (cross-docking)
- Combining transportation methods
- Reverse logistics
These activities are benefited by the regions entrepreneurs as well as the communities. With Green city logistics the amount of traffic and emissions in the city center area will decrease, recycling will be simplified, transportation of goods will be more effective and environmentally friendly. In addition, by merging transports intelligently the entrepreneurs of the transportation trade will receive savings and consequently will be able to perform in a way supporting sustainable development.
