Just a few nights left till D-day!

The hard, nearly a yearlong term of work is achieving its’ significant halfway stage when next week Wednesday we will announce the Logiera vision and strategy to the stakeholders and the greater community. There is definitely a great festive feeling in the air as nearly as a 100 interested parties have already signed up to attend the stakeholder event, terrific!

Logiera, the new era of logistics in Pirkanmaa, is personally one of the most challenging and inspiring projects in my career so far. When we add my 17 years of experience in the field, the experience of the operators in vision work and the Blue Ocean strategy, consultants and representatives of the academic world as well as the experience of the stakeholders, altogether we have over 500 years of cumulative experience! If we are not able to bring Pirkanmaa logistics solutions to a new era and pioneering activities with this team and expertise that comes with it I am not sure how else it would be possible!

There is an empty feeling or better yet void from this intense period of work within the past 11 months. We set out to change a radically different approach to the regional question on logistics, asking ourselves only one question to which we were determined to find answers. The question was the following: “ How can we improve Tampere Region’s vitality through logistics?” Forming the question itself is already challenging because there is a hidden risk that one might take too large of a part to examine. On the other hand there is a risk in confining the question itself. I believe we were successful in setting out the question, now that I evaluate the end results of the vision and strategy. It is a really great continuing point towards concrete plans through the modeling of business processes.

Once we have digested the Christmas delicacies our main aim for the beginning of next year will clearly be to create Logiera to be a regional integrator company. There are already a lot of challenges involved with this but all the signs so far only strengthen my perception of Logiera’s timeliness. With this in mind and examining, without prejudice, from the helicopter view the comprehensive development of Finnish logistics we can assure the development of the correct things and through it answer our key question: “How can we improve Tampere Region’s vitality with the help of logistics?”

Season’s greetings to all!

Jari
