Natural
logistics intersection

The city of Tampere is situated at the intersection of several logistics routes, which makes it a natural logistics center in Finland. Two-thirds of the Finnish population live within 160 kilometers from Tampere. In addition, almost 30,000 companies operate in the area, each having different logistics needs. In the near future, the population of the Tampere city region will grow to 400,000. With this kind of growth, the existing systems cannot respond to the region’s needs any longer.

The logistic infrastructure of the region has not been completely utilized as of yet – for instance, there is no real intermodality. In the city center, overlap in the transportation system becomes increasingly evident and results in the low profitability of all parties of the supply chain as well as in increased traffic and environmental effects.
